Black Cat’s Eyes Change Into Round, Orange, Horror-Like Eyes As He Gets Older

Recently, one Twitter user called @achebit shared a photo of their black cat with unique eyes. The photo quickly went viral and captured everyone’s hearts.

“Every single day I have to gaze upon this eldritch horror,” the Twitter user wrote.

The cute cat in the photo named Gremlin. He has a black fur and round and orange eyes that are reminiscent of cats seen in horror movies. With his unique look, Gremlin could be associated with witchcraft and considered as a living symbol of Halloween. But in fact, he doesn’t bring bad luck and curse to anyone.

His owners say that when they got him, they didn’t expect him to have these unique eyes. When he was younger, his eyes were much paler. His eyes only changed when he grew older.

Not all black cats have orange eyes, but they actually range from green to hazel to orange to copper. As they are kittens, their eye color starts out as blue, but it changes to its adult color as they grow up.

“We got Gremlin a little while after moving to Melbourne from Sydney (Australia). He will be 2 years old in December! We had no idea his eyes would be this colour because we got him when he was little and his eyes were much paler as most cats are born with blue eyes! You can see early pictures of him on the Instagram page—his eyes got much brighter as he’s grown up. We jokingly call Gremlin our son, haha. We love him very much,” says Gremlin’s owner to Bored Panda.

Now Gremlin is an adult cat who loves to make funny expressions. He loves to keep his owners company while they work. He just wants to stay with them.

“I am a musician and he sits with me while I teach and write songs. My partner is an indie game developer and Gremlin sits in his studio and keeps him company while he codes and makes his games. He has really kept us sane during lockdown in Melbourne. It’s pretty much impossible to not smile when you see him come into the room.”

People fell in love with this horror but sweet cat:
One person commented: “I saw the thumbnail and though “ooh, pretty eyes”. Then I opened the picture and have been transported to an alternate realm of existence where time and reality have no meaning.”

Another said: “I can imagine seeing this cat’s eyes glowing in a dark room but then when someone turns on the lights they are making this face. It’d be so scary and than a total “awwww” moment a split second later.”
