Sure, ᴘᴇᴀᴄᴇ on Earth may still be some ways off — but for a few brief moments, at least, this pup and her unlikely new pal gave the world a ᴘʀɪᴄᴇʟᴇss peek at perfect ʜᴀʀᴍony.

Fʀᴇɴᴄʜ Bulldogs are known to be cute thanks to their large, expressive eyes and bat-shaped ears. Mochi, a five-month-old Fʀᴇɴᴄʜ bulldog from San Diego, Cᴀʟɪꜰᴏʀɴɪᴀ, is probably one of the cutest Fʀᴇɴᴄʜ Bulldogs ever. She’s such a darling! According to Mochi’s owner, Rylee Boland, Mochi is fun-loving and affectionate. When you scroll through Mochi’s feed, you will see what Boland means. Mochi loves snuggling with Boland and is constantly adorable. Also, because Mochi is a puppy, she’s very curious and playful.

The other week, Rylee Boland and her Fʀᴇɴᴄʜ bulldog, Mochi, were hanging out at home in Cᴀʟɪꜰᴏʀɴɪᴀ when a colorful little stranger decided to drop by for a visit. It was a ᴍᴏɴᴀʀᴄʜ butterfly, who proceeded to land on their backyard wall to warm his wings in the sun. Captivated, Mochi immediately went to the butterfly, sat still, and calmly watched it.

Boland was baffled by the events, as Mochi is typically quite energetic and should have sᴄᴀʀᴇᴅ the butterfly away. But, to Boland’s surprise, Mochi kept a safe distance, as if she understood how delicate a butterfly is. Boland said: “She was so sweet and did not want to ʜᴜʀᴛ it. She is very well-behaved and has the kindest ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ.”

Fʀᴇɴᴄʜ Bulldogs are known to be intelligent and intuitive, and Mochi’s actions show that she is kind-ʜᴇᴀʀᴛed and empathetic too. In return, the butterfly lingered well within sniffing distance — sensing, perhaps, that the curious little canine indeed meant him no ʜᴀʀᴍ. Mochi and her butterfly friend stayed like that for 15 minutes, with Mochi just sniffing and observing her little friend. Boland said: “Both the butterfly and Mochi were so calm I was able to snap a bunch of pictures.”

This adorable interaction lasted for about 15 minutes, after which the butterfly took flight. He even landed briefly on Boland’s hand before continuing on his way. Boland, who watched this exchange unfold, felt touched. It was a shared sense of kindness and trust that made the sweet scene possible that day — qualities in Mochi the world could always use more of. More so, she felt that for a moment, the world became perfect. Boland, for one, didn’t fail to see the beauty in the time Mochi spent with the butterfly — a time during which the world, for a moment, seemed just about perfect.
