Pattie took the frail creature in her arms and rushed Lily to the nearest vet. Though only able to care about Lily for a short time, Pattie did all she could. She knew she wouldn’t be able to afford the bills that continued care for the sick cat would bring.
So she contacted Cat Man Chris of Tampa Bay Florida, who found a ready rescue in the form of St. Francis, who was happy to assist in taking care of Lily.
At least for a busy man, especially during Florida’s endless kitten season, there’s something in Lily’s dreary eyes that is something Chris can’t shake. Abandoned and alone, severely dehydrated and Eᴍᴀᴄɪᴀᴛᴇᴅ. Dɪʀᴛʏ and full of ꜰʟᴇᴀs, he took one look and ran away!
So he kept in touch with Pattie, trying to figure out the best way to care for the helpless orphan. Acute anemia means that the kitten’s life is very dangerous. A disease that threatens the life of any animal, let alone a kitten with only skin and bones left.
In that case, Lily was under strict care at Westchase Veterinary Center. Take an X-ray to see if she ʙʀᴇᴀᴋs a bone when she’s not moving. Thankfully, she was found as well. Now, she is being tested for toxoplasmosis which can cause neurological problems. The best news is that now she is gaining weight from being hand-fed.
Pattie regularly visits Lily and provides regular updates on her progress on Facebook.
Her vet described the little Siamese as a little warrior. So much so that she will start steroid treatment today and her antibiotics will be changed. She is still eating and seems to be more aware of her surroundings, although she is not yet walking.
Lily currently enjoys cuddling and taking frequent naps with her adoptive mother, Pattie. She also starts moving around more and has a new friend, Rosa, another rescue cat, who quickly becomes friends. Both she and her new adopted sister can be seen often together.
Having another kitten in recovery allowed their purpose to become clear. Why not do it side by side?! These two need to be socialized with other cats and humans.
Lily also did leg strengthening exercises in the bath, which she didn’t like very much, despite her best efforts. After getting out of the bath, she tried to run away, so that must have worked for her.
The ultimate goal would be to nurse the kitten back to health and find it a loving forever home where it can receive the care, attention, and nourishment it deserves. Animal welfare organizations may assist in the adoption process, ensuring the kitten is placed in a safe and loving environment where it can thrive.
This heartbreaking story emphasizes the importance of responsible pet ownership and the need to provide adequate care and nutrition to animals in our communities. It also highlights the significant role that compassionate individuals, veterinarians, and animal welfare organizations play in rescuing and rehabilitating animals in dire conditions, giving them a chance at a better life.
The hope is that when Lily finds her forever home, her new family will see her bond with Rosa and adopt them both. Thanks to Pattie, Cat Man Chris, St. Francis and Andrea for rescuing a lonely kitten that was about to be abandoned by the roadside.
I’m excited to see where your journey leads you!
