Meet Aasha, a 9-month-old Bengal tiger cub who only weighed 30 pounds when she was rescued, that’s the size of a healthy 3-month-old cub!
The poor thing, who weighed a quarter of what she should’ve been, was rescued from. a travelling circus where she was terribly mistreated and bullied by older tigers.
Thankfully, Vicky Keahey, founder of Texas’ In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center came to her rescue.
“Aasha’s bald spots covered almost her entire body and her skin was dry [with] cracked, darken areas and bleeding,”
The poor cub had open wounds and was suffering from ringworm when she was rescued.
“Every day, twice a day, I would go in and give Aasha medications and spend time with her.”
She needed to take regular medicated baths, but this proved difficult as she hated them! Vicky would need to chase after her to make sure she was treated.
Thankfully, after 8 weeks, the treatment paid off and Aasha’s fur began to heal, she even began to enjoy swimming!
“Within eight months she looked like a real tiger.”
This is when Vicky decided to introduce Aasha to a bigger tiger called Smuggler who apparently, from the off “went crazy for her and was always showing off for her.”
Now Aasha lives with Smuggler and is a healthy happy and much-loved tigress.
