When a veterinarian in Antigua noticed a small puppy in a cardboard box on his porch, he knew she was one of a kind. The small puppy’s perpetual squint and furrowed brow touched his heart.
The veterinarian contacted the local rescue Dogs and Cats of Antigua, which took the stray and named her Faith. She was hungry and blind, but they thought they could give her another chance at happiness.
Faith’s foster mother, Kate Venezia, told The Dodo, “Normally, a special needs dog like Faith would be euthanized on the islands because there are few adopters and no funds for care.” “Antigua Dogs and Cats fostered her, paid her vet bills, and even persuaded authorities to let her fly out early so she could receive adequate medical treatment in the US.”

When Faith’s foster mother arrived at Venezia’s house, she was taken aback by her determination.
“She was very good at finding her way around the house,” Venezia added. “She was quite daring, but she got around by smelling and bumping into things.”
“She’s unfazed by anything,” she continued. “If she collides with something, she simply gets back up and resumes running.”
Faith used her ears and nose to navigate Venezia’s house, and she always ended up in her favorite spot – right on top of her foster mom’s feet. “She adored people and wanted to be with me all the time,” Venezia explained. “She can tell when I’m getting close. She’ll stick her nose up in the air and search for me. If she hears a disturbance in the next room, she will hurry over to them.”
After a thorough medical assessment at the NYC-based rescue Animal Haven, Faith was deemed fit to find her forever home. And applications flooded in after the rescue posted her stunning photos on Facebook.
Faith has traveled a long distance to find safety, but there’s little doubt that the sweet little puppy will find someone who will always be by her side.
