How Cats And Dogs Communicate With Human

Cats and dogs understand us much better than we understand them because they are natural observers, but that doesn’t mean reading them is impossible. Here are five of the most common ways cats and dogs attempt to communicate with us.

How cats communicate with human?

#1. Meowing

Cats, believe it or not, only use meowing to communicate with humans. There is no universal cat language that uses a variety of meows to communicate. Cats only meow because it is the best way for them to communicate with their humans. However, meows are all-purpose sounds, and different meows mean different things to different cats as they have learned what works best to communicate with their owners.

#2. Purring

Most of us interpret purring as a sign that our cat is happy. While this is partially correct, it is more accurate to interpret purring as your cat’s way of saying “please don’t stop what you’re doing” or “please don’t leave.”

#3. Tail posture

Cats, like dogs, frequently use their tails to express their emotions. A happy cat has an erect tail and relaxed fur, whereas an angry or scared cat has an upright tail and fur. A low, tucked tail indicates that your cat is anxious or insecure, whereas a thrashing tail indicates that your cat is agitated.

#4. Blinking

Cats do this with other cats because closing one’s eyes in front of another is a sign of trust in the feline world. Cats, too, use slow blinking as a sign of acceptance toward their owners. Try slowly blinking back at your cat to return the compliment!

#5. Rubbing

Rubbing against your legs is a way for your cat to mark you as his territory, but it can also be interpreted as your cat showing you how much he loves you. Rubbing against you when you get home from work is your cat’s way of saying, “I’m so glad to see you!” or “I’ve missed you!”.

A dog’s tail can communicate a variety of emotions in addition to the joyful wagging tail. A slow wagging tail, for example, indicates that your dog is cautious, whereas a stiff tail held high indicates that your dog is alert. A low tail indicates that your dog is content, whereas a tucked tail indicates that he is scared.

#2. Tongue flicking

Tongue flicks are frequently motivated by anxiety and a desire to appease the owner or avoid conflict, but they do not imply that your dog understands he has been “naughty” and regrets it.

#3. Sneezing and yawning

A misplaced sneeze or yawn indicates that your dog is uncomfortable and stressed, especially when meeting new pets or people. Humans, believe it or not, do the same thing when they are uncomfortable! This can be perplexing because dogs yawn when they are content around you. The key is to look for misplaced yawning in unusual situations.

#4. Rasing a paw

Dogs express their desire for attention by raising a paw and touching you. This is probably most noticeable when you’re sitting and your dog approaches you to place a paw on your knee.

#5. Freezing

Have you ever approached your dog with a bone and noticed how he freezes mid-chew when he notices you? Freezing in the middle of an action is a clear way for dogs to express their uncertainty and desire to be left alone. If your dog freezes in the middle of a chew or another action, it’s best to respect his wishes and give him some space.
